Local students present on school integration

Student representatives from Gateway2change (a resource of EducationPlus) attended the National Coalition on School Diversity Conference in Washington, D.C. on September 24 - 25. As a result of their work last year during the Student Summits on Race, these student leaders were asked to present at the 2015 conference entitled “21st Century School Integration: Building the Movement for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” on the campus of Howard University. The student presenters include Shahd Alyasiry and Jaylen Bledsoe (Hazelwood), Ellie Bennett and Cole Reat (Rockwood), Shawn Filer (Ferguson-Florissant) and Desiree Chrun (Ritenour). The student presentation was entitled “Gateway2change: Connecting and Empowering Students to Create Change in Metro St. Louis.”
